In this study we present the evaluation of some results we have achieved in 34 patients, to whom modified limbal anaesthesia,
which we define as a new anaesthesia method, was applied.
An absolute akinesia and anaesthesia has been attained in 28 of our cases as %82 and in 31 as %91, in which two of the
cases an additional subconjuctival anaesthetic use has been required and only in one case we've been unsuccesful. Peroperative
subconjunctival oedema (%26) and postoperative subconjunctival hyperemia-hemorrhagia (%32) have been determined to be
the most frequently cofronted complications.
The fact that, this modified limbal anaestnesia method can easily be applied and has the nature to avoid the complications
caused by the randomly administered injections in some other methods, as well as, providing an effective anaesthesia and an
efficient akinesia, as it did in our cases, makes it considerable that the method can be succsfully applied to selected cataract
cases. Keywords: Local anaesthesia, Limbal anaesthesia, Cataract surgery
