After radial keratotomy that chages the refractive power of cornea, visual problems can be encountered. Glare effect is seen
pretty frequently in clinical and psychometric analysis. There has been no agreement about its role on contrast sensitivity
changes measured by psychophysical methods.
This study was designed to determine the effect on retinal sensitivity levels under scotopic and photopic conditions and
glare effects, in 18 patients underwent radial keratotomy operation. For this purpose, with Goldmann-Weekers adoptometer, preoperative
and postoperative visual tresholds of radial keratotomized eyes were compared and probable factors that can be effective
on visual performance were evaluated.
We determined radial keratotomy caused no visual impairment in visual treshold levels even under glare effect. Keywords: Radial keratotomy, Visual treshold, Glare effect
