The treatment modalities and results of 68 primary orbital rhabdomyosarcoma cases seen in Ankara University Eye Clinic
during 1964-1992 first trimester are discussed. The survival rate was 78% at an avarage follow up 6,7 years. Recurrences are
generally seen in the first two years after treatment is instituted. Once a tissue diagnosis was obtained by an anterior orbitotomy,
radiotherapy (5000-6000 cQy) and chemotherapy (VAC or pulsed VAC regimen) were started promptly. The treatment complications
v.s. cataract, bony hypoplasia, enophthalmus are mostly related to radiotherapy. Whilst morbidity due to the disease itself
and treatment complications may still be a problem, the survival rates achieved in the long term are promising. Early diagnosis
and treatment prevents the necessity for exenteration. Keywords: Orbital rhabdomyosarcoma. Chemotherapy, Radiotheraphy, Orbitotomy
