SURGICAL RESULTS OF POSTERIOR FIXATION SUTURE IN NYSTAGMUS BLOCKAGE SYNDROME
Twenty-four patents with nystagmus blockage syndrome were operated in the Department of Ophthalmology at Hacettepe University
Faculty of Medicine between 1983-1991. We have employed two different surgical approaches to treat nystagmus blockage
syndrome: bimedial posterior fixation suture, posterior fixation suture and unilateral medial rectus recession. Final surgical results
and effectiveness of individual procedures between two groups were compared. Although normal binocular vision was not restored,
a functionally desirable result of subnormal binocular vision was achieved in 31.6%. The only problem we have encountered
is an undereffect which occurred in 12.5%. There have been no other complications following posterior fixation suturing in our
