Tiroid Oftalmopatide Tedavi Yaklaşımları

95 patients of Graves ophthalmopathy with follow-up of 6-84 months were analyzed. The patients have undergone 5
different types of medical or surgical treatment and providing all attempts to put them into the euthyroid condition. In the
first group, 54 patients were only observed for their ophthalmopathy. In the second group of 20 patients who presented
active inflammation were administered systemic corticosteroid therapy while another 6 patients who have undergone
cyclosporine-A treatment formed the third group. In the fourth group of 5 patients, ethmoidal and maxillar orbital walls
were compared in terms of exophtalmus, diplopia, visual acuity, orbital resistance, ciliary injection, periocular edema, lid
lag and lid recraction. 10 patients suffering from diplopia and/or restrictive squint have undergone Botulinum-A toxin
injection or strabismus surgery. This last group had satisfactory improvement in their disabling complaints.Keywords: Thyroid ophthalmopathy, Corticosteroids, Decompression, Cyclosphorine-A, Botulinum- toxin. Strabismus surgery.
