SILICONE TUBE INTUBATION WITH DACRYOCYSTORHINOSTOMY
IN THE LACRIMAL SYSTEM OBSTRUCTIONS
In this prospective study we performed 22 silicone tube intubations with dacryocystorhinostomy (OCR) for nasolacrimal
duct obstructions in 21 patients between March 1992 and September 1993.
The average lenght of intubation was 4.8 month. Complications included punctal erosion in 1 patient, nasal polyp in
1 patient, and lateral migration of the tubes in another one. None of the patients compalined epiphora during the follow
up period.
Based on these findings we recommend that silicone nasolacrimal tubes may safely left in place for months and
improve the result of the DCR.Keywords: Dacryocystorhinostomy, Silicone, Tube intubation
