A COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF TRABECULECTOMY AND COMBINED SURGERY
29 eyes of 25 patients who have underwent trabeculectomy combined with extracapsular cataract extraction and
intraocular lens implantation and 28 eyes of 22 patients who have underwent trabeculectomy, between September 1987
and January 1993 have been investigated retrospectively. The intraocular pressure was under control without any
medication in 75.9% of combined surgery group and in 82.1 % of trabeculectomy group. The surgical results were found
to be successful in reducing intraocular pressure in both groups and trabeculectomy combined with intraocular lens
implantation is a suitable technique in glaucoma patients with some cataract format! >n.Keywords: Trabeculectomy, Extracapsular cataract extraction, Intraocular lens implantation
