We analyzed 30 of our first 31 consecutive eyes who had undergone radial and radial/tangential keratotom/ at Fırat
university, School of Medicine, Ophthalmology Department, The mean age was 28.9{range 21-55) years, the mean
preoperative spherical equivalent refraction was -9 56 D (SD -3.72, range -4.0 to -16.5 D) and the mean preoperative
keratometry 43.04 D(SD 2.07, range 39,19 to 47.58 D). Up to hill radial incisions were performed by one of us(NA), and
at six to twenty-three months (moan 9.9mo.), postoperative refraction assessed as 0.0 D to -9.0 D (mean 3.48 D, SD
2.54). Postoperative keratometry measured as 33.23 D -42.85 D(mean 38,16 D, SD 2.84). Postoperative keratometry
measured as 33,23 D -42.85 Dfmean changes were 5.67 D(SD 1.85) and 4.83 D(SD 1.23) respectively). 13 eyes (43 %)
achieved an uncorrected visual acuity of 20/40 or better, 9 eyes (26%) were corrected to within ±1.0 D of emmetropia, 21
were undercorrected ( 8 eyes to within-1.25 and -3.0 D; 13 to within -3.25 and -9.0 D). There were no vision threatening
complications. M acroperforation (1), fluctuating vision (2), difficulty in reading (2), one or two Snellen lines loss in best
corrected visual acuity (4), were the serious complications. Keywords: Rediai keratotomy, High myopia
