Bilateral Purtscher Retinopati Olgusu

A case of Purtscher's retinopathy with bilateral visual Impairment following head and chest trauma causing zygoma
and multiple costa fractures Is presented. Funduscopic examination revealed scattered, confluent cotton wool spots and
a few retinal hemorrhages bilaterally. The lesions disappeared after a two months period of time and visual acuity
improved gradually from 4/10 to 9/10 without any treatment. The literature concerning this uncommon traumatic retinopathy
condition is reviewed and its etiology and pathophysiology are discussed.Keywords: Purtscher's retinopathy, Traumatic retinal angiopathy, Thoracic compression
