Some studies in the literature claim that electroretinography is a more sensitive and spesific measure in determining
the prognosis and risk of neovascularization in retinal vein occlusions. In the present study, the circulatory disturbance
findings in retinal vein occlusions were investigated by the analysis of electroretlnogram components in a survey of 15
cases with central retinal vein occlusion and 10 cases with branch retinal vein occlusion. In addition the electroretinographic
parameters of normal eyes of the patients were also compared to the eyes of 20 healthy subjects.
Whilst there were significant differences both qualitative and quantitatively in the b wave and flicker response
amplitudes between the central and branch vein occlusions (p<0.01), no difference was observed especially in the
latincies of the a wave (p>0.05). The b wave amplitudes and latencies of the fellow-eyes of patients were also significantly
different from the control group (p<0.01).Keywords: Retinal vein occlusion, Electroretinography
