PREDISPOSING RISK FACTORS AND FORTIFIED ANTIBIOTICS IN BACTERIAL CORNEAL ULCERS
20 cases with bacterial corneal ulceration were evaluated in respect to ocular and systemic risk factors and in all
of the cases microbial investigations were perfomed and the results of treatment with fortified drops were evaluated.
In 12 (60%) of the cases and in 10 (50%) of the cases systemic risk factors were existing. In 6 (30%) cases, streptococcus
pneumonia, staphylococcus aureus and staphylococcus epidermidis were isolated from culture media with
fortified cephazoline and gentamycine drops in 80% of the cases clinical impairment and increase in vision were observed.Keywords: Bacterial keratitis, Predisposing factors, Fortified antibiotic therapy
