DEMONSTRATE THE LEVEL OF OBSTRUCTION AND SURGICAL APPROACH
Purpose; to evaluate our surgical approach and causes of obstruction of lacrimal drainage system in patients who
we could not demonstrated its level with contrast substance.
We evaluated retrospectively 70 patients (45 female, 25 male) which was performed Conjuncth/odacriocystorhinostomy
(CDCR) for reason of lacrimal sac couldn't be demonstrated by radiographically. The patients were followed up
between 6-60 months. (Mean: 29.2 months)
During operation, we found a membran in entrance of Maier sinuses in 28 patients (%40.0), bridges in sac lumen in
24 patients (%34.3), fibrovaskuler mass due to inflammatory procès in 6 patients (%8.6) and canalicular obstruction in 12
patients (%17.1). According to these circumstances, we performed CDCR in 12 patients and Dacryocystorhinostomy
(DCR) with Dupuy-Dutemps-Bourget tecnique in 58 patients. No epiphora and recurrences seen in any patient in these
follow up period.
According to these results, CDCR is effective in case of canalicular obstruction, conventional DCR is effective in
case of sac obstruction. Keywords: Dacryocystography, CDCR, DCR
