USED FOR SEDATION IN CATARACT SURGERY WITH LOCAL ANESTHESIA
30 patients planned for cataract surgery with local anesthesia were seperated into 3 groups consisting of 10 patients.
The first group received midazolam and the second group received a combination of fentanyl-propofol for sedation. The
third group was only monitorised and received no sedation. Patients were compared for respiratory rate, percent of
oxygen saturation, mean arterial pressure, intraocular pressure before and after sedation. As a result, both procedures
are concluded to be equally effective with respect to cardiovascular stability, amnesia during retrobulber injection and
lowering of intraocular pressure and to provide both the surgeon and the patient significant advantages. Keywords: Cataract surgery, Sedation, Midazolam, Fentanly, Propofol, Intraocular pressure
