Eye and II. ENT Clinics of SSK Ankara Hospital, 38 Revision Intranasal Endoscopic Dacyrocystorhinostomies were performed in the 36 lacrimal sacs of 34 patients who had previous failed external dacyrocystorhinostomies. The study was carried out between March 1994 and November 1995. In 20 of the 38 operations silicone tube intubation was the type of procedure. In the remaining 18, Jones pyrex tubes were used in order to perform conjunctivodacyrocystorhinostomies. Average postoperative follow-up period of the patients was 10.3 months and silicone tubes were removed between 3-5 months. Jones tubes are left in place as long as the patients tolerated them. Conjunctivodacyrocystorhinostomy with Jones tube insertion was performed successfully in the two failed cases of silicone tube intubation. In two cases of conjunctivodacyrocystorhinostomy synechia developed between the rhinostomy opening and middle turbinate and septum. In one of those patients, Jones tube was spontaneously advanced to the nasal cavity. Those two cases are counted as failures which gave us an overall success rate of 94.4% (34/36).Keywords: Revision dacyrocystorhinostomy, EndoscopicTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 1997, 6:9-13
