Trabekülektomi Ile Birlikte Katarakt Ameliyatı Yapılan Olguların Erken Dönem Komplikasyonlarının Yalnız Trabekülektomi Yapılan Olgular Ile Karşılaştırılması

Eighty eyes of the 68 patients with diagnosis of glaucoma were included into this study and were divided into 3 groups according to the performed surgical method. Group A included 15 eyes of the 14 patients who underwent combined cataract extraction and trabeculectomy, mean age of the group A was 81 (58-88) and the mean follow-up period was 27.26 months (1-73). Group B included 17 eyes of the 15 patients who underwent combined cataract extraction, IOL implantation and trabeculectomy, mean age was 67.5 (54-78) and the mean follow-up was 12.7 months (1-53). The results of the cases receiving combined surgery compared with the results of group C included 48 eyes of the 39 patients who had trabeculectomy only. Mean age of the patients in group C was 62 (32-73) and the mean follow-up was 13.2 months (3-64 months). Postoperative mean IOP were 16.45 mmHg in Group A, 15.6 mmHg in Group B and 18.4 mmHg in Group C. Intraocular pressure levels were not significantly different between each groups. While the visual acuities in group A and B increased significantly in the postoperative period, no significant change observed in group C. Although postoperative early complications occured more often in group C than group A and B. The difference wasn’t found to be statistically significant. According to these results, the combined surgery (ECCE+IOL+Trabeculectomy) is not different than the other methods for which the cases with both glaucoma and cataract.Keywords: Glaucoma, Cataract, Trabeculectomy, IOL implantationTurkiye Klinikleri Oftalmoloji 1997, 6:233-237
