In all patients, standart drop (average volume of 36.7-38.9 ml) of both drugs was applied on one eye and minidrop (6.9-7.2 ml) on the fellow eye four times a day.
The clinical effects of each drugs and the application techniques on the symptoms (itching, burning, tearing and foreign body sensation) were compared in the days of 3, 7, 14 and 28th.
In the sodium cromoglycate group, alltough they were different in volume, standart technique had no significant effect on tearing & mucoid secretion (p>0.05), but had minidrop (p<0.05). They both had significant effect on symptoms and clinical signs (p<0.05). But there were no significant difference between them (p>0.05). In the lodoxamide tromethamine group, we found no statistically meaningful difference between the efficaccies of standart and minidrops (p>0.05). There were less side effect such as itching, burning, tearing and foreign body sensation in the minidrop technique (p<0.0001).
By minidrop application, significant effect and the less side effects were seen. Thus, this type of application can be recomended in the treatment of vernal keratoconjuctivitis. Keywords: Vernal keratoconjuctivoftalmoloji6-2-1.pdfitis, Lodoxamide tromethamine, Sodium cromoglycate, Minidrop, Standart dropT Klin Oftalmoloji 1997, 6:123-127
