Animals were divided into three groups according to astigmatic methods. The animals in group 1, 2, 3 were treated with tangential, arcuate, and inverse arcuate keratotomy respectively. Each group comprised 5 eyes. The follow-up examinations were done at 1 day, 1 month, 2 months and 3 months by keratometry. No statistically significant difference was detected among the three groups in the obtained mean postoperative astigmatic values (p>0.05). On the other hand, the reduction in the mean keratometric values in group 2 was statistically significant (p>0.05) when compared with group 3. Our results indicate that arcuate keratotomy is still the most effective astigmatic technique. However, the refractive efficacy of inverse arcuate keratotomy is very close to tangential keratotomy. Keywords: Astigmatic keratotomy,
