One of the ocular complication in RA is the pathology of the disease itself and the other pathology is the side effects of the treatment.
The eye involvement changes from a mild conjunctivitis to cornea-scleral melting that leads to perforation of the globe. Keratoconjunctivitis sicca, keratitis and scleritis are recognized in the advanced stages of the disease when extraarticular complications are developed. Ocular complications of some systemic drugs used to treat RA must not be neglected. Retinal toxicity of synthetic antimalarial drugs that may cause to irreversible visual loss must be detected and the rheumatolog must be warned in the preclinical phase. Keywords: Rheumatoid arthritis, Keratoconjunctivitis sicca,
