Impression Cytology Of Patients With Inactive Trachoma

In this study tear film break up time, Schirmer I and conjunctival impression tests were applied to 24 eyes of the 16 patients with inactive trachoma to evaluate the goblet cell density and epithelial morphology of the bulber and upper palpebral conjunctiva. We found out that the amount of decrease in the goblet cell density and lacrymal function tests were proportionally with the severity of scatrization and the conjunctival impression test were detected as a simple, sensitive and noninvasive method to evaluate the conjunctival ocular surface.Keywords: Impression cytology, Inactive trachoma,
