688 Perforating Eye Trauma Cases

* Doç.Dr.,Atatürk Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD,** Arş.Gör.Dr.,Atatürk Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD,*** Op.Dr.,Atatürk Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD,**** Op.Dr.,Numune Hastanesi Göz Kliniği, ERZURUM A retrospective analysis of 688 perforating eye trauma cases that admitted to the Eye department of Atatürk University Medical Faculty between 1981 to 1996 was performed. 75.14% of them were male while 24.85% were female and the ratio between them was found as 3: 1. 50.14% of total patients were under age 16.
It was understood that the most frequent eye trauma in our series was corneal perforation (52.55%). Children, workers and farmers were risk groups for eye trauma. Traffic accidents were 15.11% of all eye traumas.
