Sporadic cases of nutritionel amblyopia are encountered, mainly amoung abusers of alcohol and tobacco. The debate about the roles of toxines and dietary deficiency in the pathogenesis of the disorder in these individuals is going on. The field defects in our two patients were cecocentral and central, and they were searched for etiology. When they get balanced and adequate diet, and administered intramusculer hydroxocobalamin therapy, the results were successful.
This disease is now thought to be rare. Since there are many similarities in the clinical presentation of tobacco-alcohol amblyopia and Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy, misdiagnosis is probable. We treated two men whose clinical and laboratory findings suggested they had this disease. This is the first report about this subject in our country as far as we know. Keywords: Tobacco-alcohol amblyopia,
