Laser Iridotomy

Laser iridotomy has evolded as a safe, effective, costefficient, alternative to surgical iridectomy and provides relief from pupillary block and angle closure. The avoidance of potential surgical complications such as endophthalmitis, the use of topical anesthesia and the shorter postoperative recovery time have made laser iridotomy a videspread and popular approach. With modern instrumentation and use of antireflective coated contact lenses, the benefit/risk ratio is excellent in appropriate patients. In this review,indications, contrindications, techniques, effectiveness, safety and complications are summarized.Keywords: Laser iridotomy, Surgical iridectomy,
