Postreceptor mechanism of action is still under research. Prostaglandins are metabolites of arachidonic acid which is a component of membrane phospholipid. Cyclooxygenase system is involved in this conversion. Prostaglandins, also related to the adrenergic system, have beneficial effects on glaucoma. Latanoprost, a newly developed prostaglandin-F2a-IE derivative, has been begun to be used in treatment of glaucoma. In addition to prevention of intraocular nocturnal hypertension, latanoprost is superior to timolol in respect to systemic side effects. UF-021 is another prostaglandin derivative developed to be used in the glaucoma. In this article, beside the mechanism of action, the use of prostaglandins in the glaucoma treatment is mentioned. Keywords: PGF2a, Glaucoma, Arachidonic acid,
