In the postoperative 15th day he was reoperated due to blunt trauma, anterior segment restoration, anterior vitrectomy and anterior chamber IOL exchange was done. He returned 15 months later with decreased vision. Anterior segment evaluation revealed the presence of a dense perilenticular membrane on the surface of the anterior chamber IOL. The patient was reoperated. IOL was explanted, anterior vitrectomy and secondary posterior chamber IOL implantation with transscleral suturing technique was performed. The histopatological evaluation of the membrane on the surface of the IOL showed a collagenated connective tissue, proliferated fibroblasts with melanosites and diagnosed as Cocoon membrane.
Perilenticular membrane may develop as a complication in complicated cataract surgery, especially in patients with dense deposits on the surface of the IOL and iris destruction. Keywords: Intraocular lens implantation,
