Implantation Of Intraocular Lens In Traumatic Cataract

Traumatic cataract that developed in 3 cases after blunt and 16 cases after penetrating trauma, totally 19 cases were reviewed retrospectively. All cases were unilateral and mean follow up time was 7.68±7.67 months postoperatively. The visual acuity was 0.1-0.4 in 21.1% of patients, 0.5-0.7 in 31.6% of patients, 0.8-1.0 in 36.8% of patients and below 5 mps in 10.5% of patients. The most common postoperative complication was inflammatory reaction and posterior capsule opacification. It is concluded that intraocular lens implantation in patients with traumatic cataract was found to be effective and alternative procedure in the optical correction of aphakia.Keywords: Intraocular lens, Cataract, TraumaTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 1998, 7:250-253
