Clinical conditions that can cause underestimation of intraocular pressure include valsalva maneuver, corneal epithelial edema, accommodation, repeated tonometry, hypofluorescence of the precorneal tear film, and conditions in which the tonometer is in excess contact with precorneal tear film. Measurements made over the surface of contact lens, increased stromal thickness, paracentral placement of tonometer tip can result in overestimation of intraocular pressure. In order to minimize error rate during the measurement procedure, one should employ extreme caution. The routine care and calibration of the device is also of utmost importance. Keywords: Goldmann applanation tonometer,
