The average tear lysozyme concentration was 1124.45±154.74 mg/ml and 1431.12±390.62 mg/ml for the smokers and the control group, respectively. The difference between the tear lysozyme concentrations of the smokers and the control group was found to be statistically significant (p<0.001). It must always be taken into account that a decrease in the tear lysozyme concentration in the smokers could cause a defect in the defense of the ocular surface. Keywords: Chronic Smoking,
