In this study, 11 eyes of 9 patients with stenosis of canaliculi or common canalicul and atresia of punctum and canaliculi underwent DCR and silicon intubation. Lacrimal flow rate was measured by radionuclide dacryocystography (DCR) 2 months after the operation. DCG was repeated following removal of silicon tube 4.5 months after the operation.
The difference rate between first and 30th minutes gamma -ray counts increased from 52.5% to 62.4% after removal of silicon tube.
Because of the negative effect of silicon tube on lacrimal drainage, removal of silicon tube is beneficial as soon as epithelization of upper canalicular system is completed. Keywords: Dacryocystorhinostomy,
