Comparison Of The Cycloplegic Efficacy Of Cyclopentolate-tropicamide Combination And Atropine In Esotropias

In order to compare the cycloplegic efficacy of cyclopentolate-tropicamide combination and atropine, the refraction of 106 eyes of 53 cases with esotropia, age ranging between 2-12, was determined by an autorefractometer, firstly by cyclopentolate-tropicamide and then 3.5 day-atropine cycloplegics, in this study. The amount of hypermetropia determined by atropine was significantly higher than that determined by cyclopentolate-tropicamide combination. The necessity to use the atropine for the cycloplegic refraction in the esotropia, where maximum hypermetropic correction is required, has been emphasized.Keywords: Esotropia, Refraction, Cycloplegic,
