Experimental Animal Usage And Principals In The Ophthalmology
Hamdi ER*Yrd.Doç.Dr.,İnönü Üniversitesi Turgut Özal Tıp Merkezi, Göz Hastalıkları AD, Malatya The care and management of experiment animals throughout an experiment are as important as the design of the study. Experiment animals have been using for studies in toxicology, nutrition, microbiology and immunology, medicine, surgery and ophthalmology for many years. Numerous articles and books have been published describing the uses of animals in these and other medical fields. In experimental medicine, certain physiological processes in humans can be studied using human model systems. However, hypothesis about disease processes in humans often can not be tested directly. Therefore, various species of animals are required for the studies of pathophysiological processes and the evaluation of drug toxicity. The main objective of this review is to provide some essential information on the care and management of experimental animals for the study of human disease processes. Keywords: Research, Experimental animals, Laboratory,
