Eigth men, 6 women with OCD and 10 men, 6 women, as healthy cases for the control group were enrolled in the study. Medmont M600 version 1 computerized perimetry, full tests (500,164 points) and screening tests were used.
The difference of mean threshold values between OCD and control groups was statistically significant in 122 points of visual field. The differences of 33 of these points were found high statistically significant (p<0.001), 89 were statistically significant (p<0.05). No statistically significant difference was found in 41 points of visual field (p>0.05).
Visual fields of the Control group were found to be normal. One case of OCD group (7.14%) was found to be normal. Advanced visual field loss was found in 8 eyes (28.5%) (bilaterally in 3 patients) and moderate visual field loss was found also in 8 eyes (28.5%) (bilaterally in 3 patients). Step-like field defect was found in 5 eyes (14.28%) (2 temporal steps, 3 nasal steps).
As a result, the visual field defects that do not ordinarly simulate the defects associated with organic diseases of the visual pathway may be found in obsessive compulsive disorder. It should be kept in mind that, glaucoma patients which have progressive visual field defects may have OCD despite an effective treatment and controlled intraocular pressure. Keywords: Visual field,
