Treatment And Follow-up Pediatric Cataracts

* Uz.Dr., Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD,** Prof.Dr., Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD, ANKARA Pediatric cataracts are operated earlier with the recent advances in surgical techniques however postsurgical aphakia or pseudophakia have importance as much as cataract itself and needs frequent follow-ups. Surgery should be performed as soon as possible after the diagnosis in order to prevent deprivation amblyopia. Correction of postsurgical aphakia should be planned according to the status of the eye and socioeconomic status of the patient and the family. Especially in unilateral cases that have high-risk for amblyopia occlusion therapy should be started and routine follow-ups are needed for the correction of the refractive changes associated with the growth of the child and the complications that may be associated with the method of aphakia correction.Keywords: Congenital cataract, Aphakic correction,
