It was performed in Etimesgut Air Force Hospital - Ankara / Turkey at Obstetrics - Gynecology and Ophthalmology departments. We took the women into two groups as "patient as in menopause" and women who can still have regular menses". We selected the women from those who came our department between December 1997 and May 1998. The mean intraocular pressures in the postmenopausal women and women who can still have regulary menses were 15.15±1.96 mmHg and 13.98±0.97 mmHg respectively. The difference between two measurement is statistically significant (p<0.02). We discovered that the intraocular pressure in postmenopausal women is higher than those who are still having regular menses. Intraocular pressure increases in postmenopausal women significantly because of that we can use intraocular pressure values for the early diagnosis of the glaucoma during the first visitobservations of postmenopausal women before starting hormone replacement therapy. Keywords: Postmenopausal women, Intraocular pressure,
