Clinically, severe prolonged postoperative hypotony has been a frequent complication of glaucomatous filtration surgery in which MMC was used. We placed MMC, in concentrations of 0.2 mg/ml, and 0.4 mg/ml on the intact sclera of rabbits and enucleated the eyes after 15 days. Examination of all of the eyes by light microscopy revealed normal intraocular structures, including the cornea, lens, ciliary body, and retina. In this experimental model, MMC appeared non-toxic at these doses of administration. Keywords: Glaucoma filtering surgery, mitomycin-C,
