Pathogenic bacteriae were found in 46.1% of 26 cases who had conjunctival swabs. Pneumococcus was the most frequent pathogen isolated. Patients older than 12 months at the time of diagnosis or who were not cured despite medical treatment were probed. Probing was successful in 86.9 % of 23 eyes. If sufficient time is given for medical treatment, rate of resolution is high in congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction. Probing after 12 months also gives good results. Keywords: Congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction,
