Method: Computer assisted corneal topographic analysis was performed to the 16 eyes of 15 patients preoperatively and 12th week postoperatively, and corneal curvature changes induced by trabeculectomy was evaluated. Additional data collected included refraction, keratometry, best-corrected visual acuity and intraocular pressure.
Results: Eleven of the eyes developed steepening at the vertical meridian. One eye developed flattening at the horizontal meridian. Four eyes were not affected. Refraction and keratometry were not sensitive at detecting the curvature changes.
Conclusion: Topographic analysis shows that trabeculectomy induces a change in corneal curvature which cannot be detected with other diagnostic methods. This change is steepening at the vertical meridian. Keywords: Trabeculectomy, corneal topography,
