Penetrating Eye Injuries And Results

* Yrd.Doç.Dr., Dicle Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD,** Doç.Dr., Dicle Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD,*** Dr., Dicle Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD, DİYARBAKIR Purpose: 56 cases with perforating eye injury who admitted to Dicle University Faculty of Medicine Department of Opthalmology between 1.1.1997-1.9.1997 included this prospective study in order to evaluate the epidemiological factors which contributing prognosis.
Materials and Methods: 16 (28.36 %) of 56 cases were female and 40 (71.42 %) males. Ages were between 1-58 with the mean 14.39±13.17.
Cases compared in age,sex, injured eye, type of injury, cause, localisation, dimensions of injury, admittance time, city or urban area localisation, end visual acuity with epidemiological factors.
Results: Perforating objects were the first with 25 cases (44.64 %) in the objects that cause trauma. When the relation in localisation of perforation examined visions found 0.1 and more in all of patients with corneal perforation and any of patients with corneoscleral perforation.
Conclusion: It will be useful having knowladge about epidemioligical factors for preventation and protective appliements.Keywords: Perforating eye injury, Epidemiology,
