* Araş.Gör.Dr., Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD,** Prof.Dr., Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD, ANKARA Today, although reduction of elevated intraocular pressure is a key in glaucoma treatment, it does not protect against glaucomatous damage alone. It is understood that, the cause of visual field loss in glaucoma is retinal ganglıon cell death. Neuroprotection seems to be the only way for preventing this loss. Today as the current problems solved, the neuroprotective therapies most of which are on preclinical or clinical trials now will be in use for glaucoma in the near future. Keywords: Glaucoma, retinal ganglion cell,
