Method: To make the triangular lid resection, unilaterally upper eyelids of 4 rabbits were cut by high frequency radio wave technique in one side and by monopolar electrocautery in the other side of incision. All of these eyelids were evaluated histopathologically.
Results: Tissue specimens of high frequency radio wave incisions showed less surrounding tissue damage in the superficial epithelial layers and adnexal tissues with less haemorrhage and smooth cutting edges than the monopolar cautery incision.
Conclusions: High frequency radio wave technique with minimal lateral heat spread and minimal coagulative effect can be used safely in oculoplastic surgery. Keywords: High frequency radio wave, monopolar electrocautery, full-thickness eyelid incision,
