Ehlers-danlos Syndrome Type Vi ( Ocular Form )

* Uz.Dr., Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD,** Prof.Dr., Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD, ANKARA Purpose: To emphasize ocular findings which appear in Ehlers Danlos syndrome (EDS) type VI.
Case Report: In this paper we reported a 23 year old woman with EDS type VI who had posttraumatic ectatic thin sclera, dislocated lens and vitreus hemorrhage. The patient underwent lens extraction and donor scleral patch grafting. One month postoperatively, best corrected visual acuity was count fingers at 5m and there was no sign of recurrence of scleral staphyloma. One year postoperatively, scleral thinning without ectasia was determined in the area which scleral patch graft was used.
Conclusion: In EDS type VI, microtrauma can cause serious ocular complications.Keywords: Ehlers Danlos syndrome, Trauma, ScleromalasiaTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2001, 10:230-232
