Epidemiology, Complications And Visual Prognosis Inperforated Eye Injury

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 132 perforating eye trauma cases that admitted to the Ophthalmology Department of Gaziantep University Medical Faculty between 1995 to 1999 was performed.
Results: It was understood that the most common cause of trauma in our series was incisive tools (41%), most frequent eye trauma was corneal perforation (54%) , after some complications and several operations only 16% of patients had vision like, 0.5 or better.
Conclusion: Despite the use of advanced surgical techniques, good vision has been optioned only a small part of all patients in perforated eye injury; importance of protective medicine is so distinct.Keywords: Trauma, Incisive tools, Incision localisation, Perforating eye injuriesTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2001, 10:217-221
