*Uz. Dr. SSK Ankara Eğitim Hastanesi, Göz Bankası. II. Göz Kliniği, ANKARA Objective: We are describing a modified technique of tarso-periosteal fixation which enables the surgeon to treat both types of lid malposition. Material and Method: This modified technique was used in 8 involutional entropion (7 patients) and 12 involutional ectropion cases (10 patients). Patients' mean age was 73 and they were operated at The Social Security Eye Hospital, Ankara, between October 1998 and December1999. The lid was horizontally shortened when necessary, and a modification was made in the Mc. Cord's technique such that the periosteal suspension suture was attached to the tarsus differently according to the type of lid malposition. Results: Mean follow-up was 16 months. 17 lids stayed in appropriate anatomic positions. 1 case of ectropion and 2 cases (both lids of same patient) of entropion recurred and were re-operated.Conclusion: This modification allows quick, relatively easy and stable results. Keywords: Entropion, Ectropion, Tarso-periosteal fixationTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2002, 11:159-162
