Patients were randomly divided into two groups each containing 15 patients and while the first group was treated with sodium cromoglycate, the second group was treated with lodoxamide tromethamine for four weeks. All the patients within each treatment group were provided with a dairy card on which they were told to record their symptoms daily. Patients were also asked to return for follow-up visits weekly for the duration of the treatment and clinical signs assessment was performed. At the end of the four-weeks trial pre and post-treatment findings were compared statistically within each group and between the two groups. Demographic properties were also compared statistically between the groups. Results: Seventeen (56.7%) of the cases were man whereas 13 (43.3%) were woman and ages were between 14-36 years old. Demographic properties of the groups were similar. At the end of the four weeks of therapy, symptom scores were earlier and more prominently lessened in the lodoxamide tromethamine group but this was not statistically significant when two groups were compared according to changes at the scores. In all the groups, total scores of findings were significantly lessened. Conclusion: At the end of the follow-up, both of these agents were found as effective and no statistically significant difference was observed between the efficacy of these two drugs. Although statistically insignificant, lodoxamide tromethamine was found to be some more efficient with an earlier decline on symptoms. Keywords: Vernal keratoconjunctivitis, Lodoxamide tromethamine, Sodium cromoglycateTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2002, 11:
