Ankara Eye Hospital Case Report: A 27 year old woman with a complaint of mobile object which disturbs her vision in left eye, referred to our clinic. No history of trauma, surgery, ocular disease or topical medication was present. In ophthalmological examination, a dark brown, oval-shaped lesion in the anterior chamber angle at 6 o'clock position was observed. The lesion which was diagnosed as iris pigment epithelium cyst was floating freely with changing head position. Development of focal cataract was the single complication of the cyst. Because of the patient's complaints, the cyst was ruptured with Nd-YAG laser (2 mj, a single shot). No complications were developed in the early and late postoperative period. Conclusion: Free floating iris pigment epithelium cysts are very rare and don't need any treatment if they are asymptomatic and uncomplicated. However, they have to be treated when they disturb the vision or cause other complications such as developing enlargement, rise in intraocular pressure and inflammation. Nd-YAG laser photocoagulation is the treatment modality which can be performed successfully and safely in such cases. Keywords: Iris pigment epithelium, Cyst, Free floating cyst, TreatmentTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2002, 11:104-107
