Careful history and biomicroscopic examination is useful for differentiation. In this study our aim was to show the additive effect of topical steroids when used with topical antibiotics in steril corneal infiltrates. Materials and Methods: Topical 0.3% ciprofloxacin was applied to 25 patients with steril corneal infiltrates as four times daily. We added topical 0.1% fluoromethalon acetate after two days and repeated slitlamb examination in fifth, seventh, fifteenth days and first and third months. Results: In 20 of total 25 patients (80%) steril corneal infiltrates disappeared in 48 hours with topical steroid treatment. In 5 of total 25 patients (20 %) the findings regressed in 48 hours and at the end of 5th day steril corneal infiltrates disappeared in all patients (100%). Conclusion: We think, it is safer to treat steril corneal infiltrates initially with antibiotics in order not to take the risk of infections. Topical steroids are useful after 48 hours. Keywords: Contact lens, Steril corneal infiltratesTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2002, 11:69-72
