Materials and Methods: Seventeen eyes of 17 patients with white cataract and no fundus reflex were taken into the study. The capsulorhexis was performed by using a 0.1 cc dye-trypan blue of 0.1%, and the intraocular lens was implantated in the capsular bag by phacoemulsification method.
Results: In all patients the capsulorhexis was performed suc-cessfully with control and no complication. There was not any dye residue at the anterior capsule and the ocular surface with biomicroscope in the postoperative follow-up. After 3 months of follow-up there was no bullous keratopathy and the intraocular pressures were found to be normal.
Conclusion: The 0.1cc trypan blue of 0.1% enabled the visu-alization of capsulorhexis border and capsular flep in cases with white cataract. The vital dye of trypan blue is non-toxic to endotelium and can be used in capsulorhexis of white cataracts with safety. Keywords: White cataract, Capsulorhexis, Trypan Blue.Türkiye Klinikleri Oftalmoloji 2003, 12:157-160
