Materials and Methods: Case reports. Results: Two women aged 27 and 34 years presented with complaints of redness and mild itching on their lower eyelids. They had received topical corticosteroids, antibiotics, and ocular lubricants with no improvement. On their ocular examination localized, well demarcated, red lesions with slightly elevated margins were noted on the lower eyelids. Similar circumscribed lesions were noted on the nose and behind the ear of one patient, and over the nasojugal fold of the other patient. Biopsies from these skin lesions were consistent with discoid lupus erythematosus. Conclusions: Early recognition of discoid lupus erythematosus of the eyelids is important to avoid deformities of the eyelid, delay in diagnosis of systemic disease, and possible full thickness eyelid biopsy. Keywords: Discoid lupus erythematosus, Systemic lupus erythematosusTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2003, 12:48-52
