Albumin-gluteraldehyde Tissue Adhesive For Sealing Bilateral Corneal Perforation

Göz Kliniği Haydarpaşa Numune Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, İSTANBUL A 2-month-old male infant, seen in the the intensive care unit after an operation for atrioseptal defect, had bilateral corneal descemetocele and corneal perforation due to exposure keratopathy. The size of the descemetocele was 4x4 mm in the right and 4x5 mm in the left eye. The anterior chamber was completely flat in both eyes. The area of the iris prolapse was covered with smooth, glistening Descemet's membrane which was not intact at the paracentral cornea in both eyes. The size of the perforation was 1 mm OU. No signs of corneal infection were observed. Bioglue was applied in both eyes with its' gun-shaped applicator. After waiting for about 2 minutes for complete polymerization to take place, a therapeutic contact lens with a base curve of 8.7 mm was placed on both eyes. Three months after the glue application, both corneas were healed with an opaque and vascularized scar.
