The use of spontaneous conditions as animal models will be the best way of performing such experiments. This study involves an introduction to some previous experimental models performed and spontaneous ophthalmic diseases which can be studied further. Additionally, the best ophthalmic experimental animal model for some diseases which are determined according to the analogy to the human ophthalmic anatomy, physiology and pathology are emphasized. Keywords: Ophthalmology, Experimental animal modelsTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2004, 13:109-116
