Orthokeratology

To review the past and current literature and present findings on orthokeratology, an alternative method to refractive surgery. Various past and present articles on orthokeratology were analyzed.
Orthokeratology is primarily used to treat myopia and a small degree of astigmatism. Especially, with the new design reverse geometric lenses full correction in 5.0-6.0 D myopia is possible.The best results obtain in subjects less than 2.5 D astigmatism.There is no age limitation and after the process monovision technics for presbiopias can be applied. Functional visual acuity can be achieved in high myopias.
High Dk rigid gas permeable reverse geometric lenses can be used in daily or overnight pattern to treat myopias.
